Stemming from its no-nonsense approach to style and functionality, London-based brand CMF has just released its dynamic CMF Headphone Pro. Unlike its parent company Nothing’s recently debuted Ear (3) earbuds, transparency is the name of the game with this new set.

Transparent, yes, but not literally, definitely in terms of making all components evident and easy to use. The kit of parts device, which comes in light gray, dark gray, and light green, is defined by its interchangeable ear cushions, available in light green or orange and levels of softness. Gone are the days of drab all gray sets that look like something out of 90s normcore culture. Gone, as well, are the days of ears getting sore after only an hour or two of use.

The CMF Headphone Pro’s performance doesn’t disappoint either. Beneath its trendy, personalizable surfaces are a suite of optimized features. Certified hi-res sound is boosted by an adaptive ANC that blocks out ambient noise.

The former operates on a 40 mm driver with nickel-plated diaphragms that also reduces distortion and facilitates sharper clarity. A 16.5 mm copper voice coil, precision bass duct, and dual-chamber shell delivers a fuller sound with rich texture and deeper punch.

The latter technology automatically adjusts to changing surroundings, shifting between three different noise levels and a 40dB noise reduction modality reducing distracting chatter or unexpectedly loud environmental nuisances: construction, sirens, etc.

A quick five-minute charge allows for up to four hours of listening, and a full 100-hour recharge takes under 2 hours, via USB-C. The CMF Headphone Pro can even be powered from a smartphone if the right charging ports, or any really, aren’t available. There’s no more need for that annoying crescendoed jingle reminding the user of how little battery life certain industry leaders purposely leave out of their devices.

What truly sets the headphones apart are its meticulously engineered and carefully introduced tactile controls, something few other comparable devices can boast.

An energy slider – joined by a multifunctional roller and a customizable action button – offers even more personalization, much of which can be calibrated using the recently improved Nothing X app. The system also seamlessly pairs with the company’s watch and smartphone products. This package of performance and style packs a punch.
